LOGOS SCHOOL UPDATE – 2023/24 – Update #33 (May 1, 2024)

-------------  GENERAL  -------------

Grandparents’ Day is this Friday, May 3rd, for grandparents, parents, family, friends, and prospective families. There will be no classes for the secondary.  See the full Grandparents' Day Schedule.

Secondary Spring Choir Concert: This year’s secondary spring choir concert will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. this Friday, May 3rd, at the Church of the Nazarene (1400 East 7th St.).  

Open Positions (2024/25 School Year): Please contact the appropriate administrator for more information on the following openings. 

  • Secondary: Algebra I (8th grade);  Algebra II (10th grade); Functions & Statistics (11th grade); Old Testament Survey (7th, MWF); New Testament Survey (8th, MWF); Introductory Latin (7-8th grade); Advanced Latin (11-12th grade, MWF); Spanish III (11-12th grade, MWF). Valedictorian and Salutatorian: We are pleased to announce that Clive Miller and Annabelle Crapuchettes have been selected to represent our 2024 senior class at commencement as valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively. Congratulations!  Graduation is on May 25th.  

Clay Shoot: Please join us on May 11th for our 5th Annual Logos School Clay Shoot fundraiser! Register your team of 4 for a day of clay shooting, catered lunch, and great fellowship out at Rock Lake Sporting Clays. -------------  ELEMENTARY ------------

New Hire: We are very pleased to announce that Mrs. Carmon Iverson has been hired as our new morning preschool teacher, replacing the retiring Mrs. Shepard.  Mrs. Iverson brings a wealth of teaching and music experience to the team at Logos East.  Mrs. Christensen will continue to teach the afternoon preschool classes.  Please congratulate and welcome Mrs. Iverson the next time you see her. 

Logos West Third Grade Play:  Tomorrow (Thursday), May 2,  Mrs. Blum’s 3rd-grade class will be performing their class play. The show will open with a 6th-grade recitation (Becker/Anderson) at 8:35 in the gym. All are welcome. 

Elementary Schedule for the final week of school:  

  • Kindergarten Graduation; last day of school for Logos East.  
  • Mon, May 20 - no school for elementary students.  
  • Tues, May 21st - normal class; early dismissal times (11:50 1st grade, 12:00 2nd grade, 12:15 West).  Dress code is Fight'n Knight attire. Field Day, 1st-6th grades, weather permitting, is from 1:30-3:00p at Mountain View Park.   Parents are responsible for drop off and pick up at Mountain View Park.  If it is sunny, please have your child wear a hat and bring a water bottle.  This is the last day of school for Logos South.  
  • Tues, May 21st - last day of school for South.  
  • Wed, May 22nd for 3rd - 6th.  The school day begins at 8:30a.m.  Dress code is Friday Tie Day attire.  8:30-9:30 Students will be in classrooms.  The Elementary Awards Assembly will take place from 9:30a-10:30a in the gym.  After the awards ceremony, students will return to their classroom to receive their final report card and then are dismissed.  End of the school year.

Filled Positions:  We are very pleased to announce that Pastor Toby Sumpter has been hired to teach 11th-grade Philosophy, 12th-grade Economics, and to assist with 11th-grade Rhetoric in addition to the Civics elective.  Please congratulate him the next time you see him. 

------------- ACTIVITIES  ------------

Logos Summer Camps: Registration is open.  Camp options include Mr. Porras’ Speed and Powerlifting camps.  Mr. Jeschke is offering a Rifle Safety and Marksmanship camp.  One of our most popular camps each year is Mrs. Kern’s painting camps which will be available for registration next week. Be sure to check out all the great options here

Physicals for next year:  Be sure to plan ahead for physicals and IQ forms.  You can update your documents on your Dragonfly accounts for next year.  Physicals and IQ forms after May 1st are acceptable for next school year.  The Logos Forms and Fees page has all the information about what documents are needed and the necessary forms.  You will also be able to see how to create your Dragonfly account if you do not already have one.
