Spring Concert: The Logos Benefit Concert will take the place of our regular Spring Concert this year. See the following ad: On April 21, please plan to come to the Classical Education Meets Classical Music Benefit Concert at 2:00 in the Moscow Church of the Nazarene. Outstanding choral and instrumental numbers will be presented and at the end of the concert the two beautifully restored pianos will be auctioned off. The Logos secondary students will be part of this performance. The elementary classes will be doing a musical demonstration in the late afternoon on Grandparents’ Day. Game Day Shirts: Next Tuesday, April 17, students in the elementary and secondary are allowed to wear their Fight’n Knight T-Shirts and nice jeans to school to help cheer on our lacrosse team as they face Lake City at home that evening.Elementary
Elementary Roster: Due to the fact that God continues to bless our school with so many students, we are excited to announce that we will be opening a second 4th grade class for 2012-13. This will mean that five of our elementary grades will have two classes per grade. Miss Chelsea Jones and Mrs. Dianne Bradley have been hired to teach the 2nd (b) and 4th (b) grade classes respectively, full-time. Depending on enrollment, we may open another 3rd grade class, but for now, the plan is to give Mrs. Jordan an aid and a larger classroom to accommodate a full class. For the grades that have two classes each, the school board has created some simple guidelines that provide direction in deciding which student is placed in which class (listed below). 1. If families have a teacher preference, they are welcome to list that on the reregistration form. 2. Priority will be given to alumni and to families who have been at Logos for five or more years. 3. The administration has the right to make placement decisions for the best interest of each class (taking into consideration the balance of boys and girls, balance of class size, etc.) Next year’s elementary roster is attached to this email. As we accept new students to the double classes there may be opportunities for more current families to receive their first choice. I have a record of the preferences that were listed on the reregistration form and I will contact you as these become available. With so many double classes planned for next year, we have plenty of room, so please continue to pass the word. Please note that reregistration fees were due March 30 unless you had made other arrangements with Mr. Garfield. These fees are necessary to hold seats for 2012-13. Kindergarten (PM) Play: The Afternoon Kindergarten class will be performing a play this Friday at 12:30 PM in the auditorium. This will be our first afternoon elementary class play ever. All are welcome to attend. SAT Testing: Next week we will be administering Stanford Achievement Tests in grades 1-6 and the Metropolitan Readiness Test in Kindergarten. Please avoid scheduling appointments during this time if at all possible.Secondary

Secondary Student Surveys: This week we are asking the secondary students to complete a brief survey for each class that they are enrolled in. This survey is designed to communicate the students’ perceptions of the secondary program to the secondary faculty and administration. This would be a great time to sit down with your child and discuss each class with him/her. Secondary parents are also welcome to provide input at this time. Simply print out the Secondary Student Survey which is attached to this email and turn it in to Mr. Whitling’s box. Parent/Teacher Conferences, March 22 & 23: Conference sign-up sheets will be coming home over the next few days. We are looking forward to meeting with you after spring break. Name on the Board: One of our assembly sayings is, “If your name’s on the board…go make it right.” The goal is to teach students to take responsibility and deal with sin faithfully. Toward that end, my teaching and encouragement has been that when a student gets his name on the board that he go, at the next convenient time (recess, lunch, after school), and ask forgiveness of his teacher for whatever he did. In addition to this, our household policy is that if one of my kids gets his name on the board in class, he comes and tells me right after school. If your household discipline leans toward requiring your kids to take this responsibility and make things right, then making excuses, hiding the sin, or spinning the story will just not pay off.Secondary

Hello all,
Clint Hughes here, for the Logos Benefit. I wanted to remind you that Operation: Piano Restoration is back on this Saturday, Feb, 25 from 10am-1pm. There will be work for all ages. I also had an immediate need for anyone with a little extra time. We now have benefit posters! Please join me in thanking Ed and Jessica Evans for the professional and eye-catching design, and EMSI for printing them for us. They were designed to hang in the local businesses and highlight the concert and the piano auction. With the jazz festival going on this weekend, it would be great if we could get them up in the next couple of days. They will be available in the Logos office, so please take as many as you can handle and put them up in the local restaurants, grocery stores, the public squares, etc., anywhere the people will be out and about this weekend. Thank you!
In His grip,
Clint Hughes
Parking at Logos School
Dear Parents,
Thank you VERY much for the many good suggestions you sent to me regarding ways to improve the safety and efficiency of our traffic patterns at Logos. After considering your input and that of Mr. Whitling, as well as my own observations, I have constructed some specific rules for our students and our drivers. Please open and print out the Rules and the Map (below). If you drive to school at all, you should familiarize yourself with them. We will begin enforcing these as soon as possible.
As you will notice, we will be posting Guards in the school lot in the morning and afternoon. However, we need volunteers to be the afternoon Guard up in the gym lot. The time slot each school day would be from 3:10 - 3:30, during peak pick-up time. Please email me if you would be willing to take a day or more each week.
Let's put these rules into action and see how that goes. Again, thank you for your consideration, patience and input as we continue to try to make every part of Logos School a safe place for your children!
Blessings,
Tom Garfield
