LOGOS SCHOOL UPDATE – 2015 – Summer #4

General

Elementary and Secondary Registration: Many of the registration tasks that are normally required at the start of the year have been taken care of through Renweb. We simply ask that you stop by the front office sometime between 8 AM – 1 PM next Monday through Wednesday to sign a liability waiver and emergency form.

2015-16 Information: Please check the school website for the updated school supply lists, uniform guidelines, secondary fall schedule, etc. The school supply lists can be found under Academics/Elementary (or) Secondary Program.

Combined Back to School Night: Back to School Night for the elementary and the secondary will take place together the Friday before the first day of school: August 21 at 7:00 in the gym. This is an opportunity for parents to come meet and hear from the administration and teachers so that we all get off to a strong start.

Elementary

Preschool: We still have three seats open in our T/Th morning preschool class (8:30-11:30 AM). If you know of anyone who would benefit from this fun and exciting introduction to Logos, please spread the word.

Secondary

Secondary Sports & Activities: Fall sports and activities will start up this week and next. Be sure to bring the appropriate forms and payment to the first practice.

Junior and Senior High Cross-Country will begin this Friday, August 14 at 8:30 am at the Moscow JH tennis courts (D Street and Mountain View).

High School Volleyball will begin this Friday, August 14 at 5:30 AM in the Logos gym.

High School Drama will begin next Thursday, August 20 at 3:00 in the gym.

New Secondary Student Orientation: All 7th graders and other new secondary students and their parents are welcome to come Friday, August 21 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in the auditorium. This is a time to learn about life at Logos and get set for the new school year.

Junior High Girls Volleyball: We anticipate a large number of 6th-8th grade girls who will be excited to play volleyball this year. We are going to expand the activity to accommodate everyone this year instead of “cutting” as many as 10-15 girls. After the first couple of practices (the first week of school), the girls will be placed on a “Varsity” or “Junior Varsity” team. We’ll have two coaches and all the girls will practice at the same time. The varsity team will play a normal schedule vs. Moscow and Pullman. The junior varsity will play 3-4 inter-squad games, gaining valuable experience along the way. The cost will be $60 for varsity and $40 for JV. We are looking forward to a great season!

Junior High Boys Basketball: We are planning to include all 6th grade boys in junior high basketball this year in a similar way to what is described above for volleyball.

Cheers,

Matt Whitling
