LOGOS SCHOOL UPDATE – 2010/2011 – WEEK #25

Elementary

2011-12 Enrollment: Due to the number of applicants that we have for next year, we are currently making plans to open an afternoon Kindergarten class. We are also facing a similar situation in 1st and 2nd grades, and there is a possibility that we may open a 1st and 2nd combination class. Stay tuned for more details.

Parent/Teacher Conferences, March 24 & 25: Conference sign-up sheets will be coming home over the next few days. We are looking forward to meeting with you after spring break.

Name on the Board: One of our assembly sayings is, “If your name’s on the board…go make it right.”  The goal is to teach students to take responsibility and deal with sin faithfully.  Toward that end, my teaching and encouragement has been that when a student gets his name on the board that he go, at the next convenient time (recess, lunch, after school), and ask forgiveness of his teacher for whatever he did.  In addition to this, our household policy is that if one of my kids gets his name on the board in class, he comes and tells me right after school.  If your household discipline leans toward requiring your kids to take this responsibility and make things right, then making excuses, hiding the sin, or spinning the story will just not pay off.

Secondary

Knight Day: Next Thursday, March 10th, is Knight Day in the secondary.  This is a seminar-type day in which students attend plenary talks and select from a wide array of academic and recreational workshops.  This year’s theme is Vocation.  More information will be coming out next week!

Knowledge Bowl: Congratulations to the high school knowledge bowl team for winning the regional competition. This is the 15th year in a row that we will be going to state!

Mock Trial: Congratulations to the high school mock trial teams for taking 1st and 3rd in the regional competition. This is the 16th year in a row that our mock trial teams will be going to state!

Cheers,

Matt Whitling
