General
Lower Elementary Enrollment: We are seeing a good number of new applications for next year in Preschool through 3rd grade. If you have children you are hoping to enroll for the first time, it may be wise to turn your application in soon.
Re-registration: Re-registration is currently taking place online. To reserve a spot for your current Logos student, please follow this link: https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?hl=en&formkey=dE92b2loRlRTTXh2LWJXdWxMLW1GUHc6MQ#gid=0
Elementary
Spelling Bee: The 1st – 6th graders will be competing in an in-school spelling bee February 3rd.
Grandparents’ Day & Spring Concert: We are hoping to move Grandparents’ Day and the Spring Concert from May 6 to May 13. Please contact me within the next few days if this would conflict with the traveling plans of any grandparents who are coming from out of town for this event.
Secondary
Physics & Calculus: Students who pass pre-calculus as juniors are allowed to take calculus their senior year. In order to be in physics you also must be enrolled in calculus, due to the integration between the two classes. A few parents have expressed an interest in having their children exposed to physics next year even though they are currently not enrolled in pre-calculus as juniors. The secondary staff put their heads together and we’ve come up with the following solutions:
1. During the summer between 11th and 12th grade, students are welcome to enroll in a college pre-calculus class or hire an approved tutor to guide their student through pre-calculus. If the student is successful in working through this material (70% or better), he would be allowed to take calculus and physics in 12th grade.
2. Seniors will be allowed to audit Physics and receive credit toward an independent study next year (Students who are auditing the class are not eligible for the physics trip.).
Please contact me if you would like to discuss these options further.
Cheers,
Matt Whitling
