LOGOS SCHOOL UPDATE – 2010/11 – Week #33

Elementary

Grandparents’ Day: We have a super day planned for grandparents, parents, family friends, and prospective families on May 13th.  The morning will open with a light breakfast for grandparents in the auditorium, followed by class plays and presentations throughout the morning and early afternoon.  See the schedule below for evening events:

Elementary Open House 6:30-7:25 PM

Art Auction 6:30 – 7:25 PM

Spring Concert (Elementary & Secondary) 7:30 – 8:30 PM

Spring Concert Notes: Elementary and secondary students should meet in the gym at 6:20 PM in their dress uniforms. I realize that this is a few minutes before the open house begins, but we want our students to have enough time to practice with the full orchestra.

Enrollment: We are currently working to acquire two additional classrooms for the elementary next year. There are nine students on the waiting list for 1st grade and ten on the list for a potential 2nd/3rd combo class.

Secondary

Mock Trial: The Mock Trial A-Team will be traveling to Arizona this week to represent Idaho in the national championships. Pray for their safety and success.

Secondary Awards Night: Secondary Awards Night will take place May 26th at 7:00.  This is a time for secondary students and their families to come and participate as we acknowledge the good work that our students and staff have done.  8th Grade Promotion will be a part of this evening, but it will not be highlighted by having the students sitting on the stage and receiving “diplomas”.  The school dress uniform or nice church clothes are appropriate attire for this event.

Finals Schedule: The secondary finals schedule for the spring semester has been posted on the Principal’s Page.

General

Summer Camps: Logos is offering a wide array of summer camps this year. We are looking forward to a great summer! See the Principal’s Page for more information.

2011-12 Openings:

Math Teacher (7th Grade Pre-Alg, 8th Grade Alg. 1, 9th Grade Geometry, 10th Grade Alg. 2, 11th Grade Pre-Calc.): After teaching math at Logos for the past five years, Mr. Dale Courtney will be spending time next year helping his son, Joel, pursue an acting career in California. We are very grateful for the investment that Mr. Courtney has made in the lives of our students. He will be missed. See Matt Whitling for details on this opening.

Janitor: Mrs. Carroll will be working full-time at Hall Closet Uniforms next year, and therefore we have a part-time janitorial opening in the afternoons. Mrs. Carroll has been a cheerful part of our staff for the past five years, and we are excited for her to have this full-time opportunity. See Tom Garfield for details on this opening.

Applications are available at the front office, and they will be accepted through May 13.

Cheers,

Matt Whitling
