LOGOS SCHOOL UPDATE – 2022/23 #26  (Mar 29, 2023)

————-  GENERAL  ————-

The Logos School Benefit Auction is on Saturday, April 1, 2023.  We are looking forward to an evening of exciting bidding, delicious food, and great company!  If you’d like to preview the auction catalog, you can do so here. The Dessert Dash is a fun element of the evening that brought in nearly $20,000 last year; if you’d like to help with that, you can sign up here.

————-  ELEMENTARY  ————-

Our wonderful art teacher, Jessica Evans, will be retiring from teaching art and will be concentrating on being a book illustrator (which she does very well already).  We are grateful for her faithful work at Logos and we will miss her presence in the classroom.  Thank you Mrs. Evans for your dedication over many years.

Staff Openings:

  • Elementary Art:  Interested in teaching art?  Please contact Jim Becker
  • Kindergarten:  If you are interested in joining our excellent team of kindergarten teachers next year, please contact Kalen Brockwalder for more information.
  • Preschool:  We are seeking two talented teachers to serve in this important role next year. If you are interested in applying to teach, please contact Kalen Brockwalder.

First Grade Play: Logos South has an assembly this Friday.  Mrs. Rauch’s class will be performing a 1st-grade classic, Goldilocks and the Three Bears.  The play will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Logos South. We will reserve the small parking area in front of the school (the normal teacher lot) for anyone that would be especially blessed by this convenient spot.

————-  SECONDARY ————

Staff Openings:  We are looking for experienced Latin teachers to teach at the secondary level (7-9th grade).  If you are interested or know of talented teachers who love teaching Latin, please contact Wally Wiggins for more information.

Staff Departures: We are thankful for the faithful service of four teachers who will be departing this summer.

  • Mr. Boyd taught for three years in Biology, Physical Science, and Marine Biology.  Mr. Boyd will depart this summer for new adventures in teaching biology.
  • Mr. Jones taught for four years in Literature, History, and Bible.  Mr. Jones will depart this summer to work as a pastor’s assistant for his father in Chicago.
  • Mr. Newman taught juniors for one year in Rhetoric and Philosophy.  Mr. Newman will depart this summer for a full teaching position at New St. Andrews College.
  • Mr. Merkle taught for one year in 8th and 3rd grade Latin.  Mr. Merkle will be married this spring and then depart for Scotland where he will be pursuing an advanced degree.

————- ACTIVITIES  ————

Fight’n Knight Day: Wear your Fight’n Knight shirt to school this Friday, March 31st, in support of our Varsity lacrosse team, who will have their first home game this Saturday vs. ICA on Logos Field at noon.
