LOGOS SCHOOL UPDATE – 2022/23 #22  (Feb 15, 2023)

————-  ELEMENTARY  ————-

Teaching at Logos:  If you have ever been interested in teaching at Logos, we have openings in the elementary grades at all 3 campuses, both full-time and half-time.  If you are interested contact Jim Becker.

Elementary Play: Logos South has an assembly this Friday.  Mrs. McIvor’s class will be performing a 1st-grade classic, The Three Piggy Opera.  The play will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Logos South. We will reserve the small parking area in front of the school (the normal teacher lot) for anyone that would be especially blessed by this convenient spot.

Parking Lot Protocol (Logos West): Please encourage your elementary-aged students (3rd – 6th) to cross the main parking lot at the designated spot at the bottom of the stairs.

————-  SECONDARY ————

Speech Meet Assembly:  Our 10th-12th grade speech meet assembly will be on Thursday, February 23rd (12:40-1:30), in the Logos Fieldhouse.  Parents are invited to attend.

Secondary Homework-O-Meter:  Please be on the lookout for a survey asking for information about the amount of homework your secondary student had over the last week.  The information from this survey will help us better gauge how we are doing with respect to individual class homework standards.

————- ACTIVITIES  ————

Varsity Boys’ Basketball begins district play at 6:00 tonight at Troy High School.  The team will play again on Saturday at Lewiston High SchoolThe district bracket can be found here.

Fight’n Knight Day: Wear your Fightin’ Knight shirt on Friday, February 24th to support our Mock Trial teams that will begin competition Saturday, the 25th.

HS Track and Lacrosse begin practice on February 24thStudents need to have paperwork (Physical or IQ form) submitted before they can practice.  Any athlete who has played a sport this school year already has paperwork on file.  More information about forms can be found on the Forms and Fees page.  JH Track and Lacrosse will begin after spring break.

Golf Coach Needed.  Logos is in need of a varsity golf coach.  If you love golf and would like to help students have an opportunity to learn the sport and compete, contact Mr. Lopez.  Golf practice can begin on February 27th.

ELIGIBILITY FOR EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: All Logos students participating in extracurricular activities (including dual participation) must earn a GPA of 2.5 or above for the quarter preceding the extracurricular season. For the good of the rest of the participants in any activity, students who are ineligible at the beginning of a season remain ineligible for participation during the entirety of that season, regardless of their grade point average the following quarter. If students are eligible to begin a season, they remain eligible until the end of that season. As with academics, extracurriculars at Logos are practiced in loco parentis and the administration and staff defer to the discretion of parents in balancing the academic and extracurricular life of their student.
