LOGOS SCHOOL UPDATE – Summer #4
Elementary PE: Our elementary PE program is staffed by volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering to help out by teaching your child’s PE class, please contact me ASAP. Each PE class meets twice a week for 30 minutes.
Fight’n Knight Shirts: The Logos Game Day Fight’n Knight shirts are in and all secondary students will receive theirs on the first day of school. Fight’n Knight shirts will be available for sale during the registration days if you would like to purchase one for your elementary student, friends or family. Students, elementary and secondary, may wear the Fight’n Knight shirt (last year’s or this year’s) and a nice pair of jeans to school on special designated occasions (1st home games, 1st tourney games, Trivia Day, etc…).
Preschool News: This year’s Preschool currently has a total of 19 students enrolled in two classes. Due to the strong interest in Preschool for next year, we have opened a waiting list for 2010-2011. If you are interested in reserving a slot for your child, please follow this procedure (class preference will be given to current Logos families):
1. Complete an application. These can be found at the Logos Principal’s Page.
2. Schedule a parent interview with the front office (unnecessary for current Logos families).
3. Pay the preschool materials/registration fee of $50.
School Uniform Exchange: Logos will host a uniform exchange on the stage in the auditorium during registration (next Monday and Tuesday). If you are interested in participating, please come by to drop off clothing that you no longer need and pick up whatever you can use – everything is free.
Elementary and Secondary Class Registration: Registration for all Logos students will take place on August 17-18 between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Please make time on one of these days for at least one parent to come by the front office for 15 minutes and register (students are not required to attend). This cannot be done over the phone or via email as there are certain forms (immunizations, emergency forms, etc.) that need to be signed and updated before the first day of school. The student/parent handbooks, locker lists, and more will be available to pick up at this time. The top three elective choices for your secondary student need to be provided on one of these days. All senior course choices must be provided at this time as well. If you are planning to be out of town during registration, please come ASAP later that week to register (no early registrations, please).
Secondary Electives: Course summaries are available on the Principal’s Page.
JH PE Shirts: Junior High PE shirts are available through Hall Closet Uniforms (on the supply list it incorrectly said that Logos sold these).
Open Gym: This Wednesday evening from 7-9 there will be an open gym for 5th-12th grade boys. Bring your own ball.
11th and 12th Grade Announcements:
Physics Trip: The annual Physics Trip has been moved to September 3-5 due to scheduling conflicts in October. Please note, this is the second week of school!
Senior Course Options: Those who will be participating in senior course options (independent studies, internships, or college courses) should be starting to construct their proposals. These are due on August 10 (TODAY). See the following link for details.http://logosprincipalspage.com/category/secondary/senior-course-offerings/
Greek: Please note that our Greek class is optional for juniors and seniors who wish to study another classical language after Latin. You may sign up for this class during registration.
High School Music: Our high school music class, taught by Dr. David Erb, is required for 9th and 10th graders, but any seniors not in apologetics have the option of taking this class.
Functions & Statistics VS. Pre-Calculus (alias Trig.)
Juniors will need to register for one of two math classes, Functions & Statistics or Pre-Calculus. We recommend that students who averaged 85% or lower on their Algebra II exams take Functions & Statistics. The Algebra II exam grade was supplied on last year’s report card. If you don’t have this information handy, feel free to contact me.
