GENERAL

This Week: This week is the last week in the first quarter.  Encourage your child to finish strong!  Friday, October 15, is a teacher work day (no school for students).  Teachers will be wrapping up the first quarter (grades and report cards) and preparing for the second quarter.

Dress Uniforms: There will be no dress uniform day this week.

Speech Meet: Selections will be presented in class and graded on the judge’s sheet, this week in the elementary and next week in the secondary, as a last practice before the real meet.

Memorial Service: This Thursday school will be dismissed early so that families may attend the memorial service for Mrs. Bessie Wilson. Elementary students will be dismissed at 11:40 and secondary students at 12:05.

ELEMENTARY

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Conferences will take place as scheduled on October 21st and 22nd for all elementary grades except one. 1st grade conferences will take place on October 28th and 29th due to Mrs. McIvor’s daughter’s wedding.

5th Grade Play: The 5th Graders will be performing Eros and Psyche this Thursday morning. The show will open with a Kindergarten recitation at 8:35. All are welcome!

STUDY TIP FOR THE WEEK

Plan ahead.  Sit down with your child on Saturday and read over the HAS (elementary) or the Weekly Test Schedule (secondary) together. Talk about the tests and assignments with your child so that he is prepared before the week begins.  A few minutes of discussion and study Saturday morning can help take the pressure off in the middle of the week when the circus is in full swing.
